I have felt that it is my fate to unite both my heritages into something as meaningful as it is beautiful.
After graduating from a Masters' in International Business and starting my career in the shipping industry, my family and I moved to Zambia in 2017. And this is where it all started. I sensed the need to share the beauty and authenticity of Africa with the old continent as I fell deeply connected to my roots. Bantu Decor, an African art and craft decor boutique that would reflect my mixed heritage of Nigeria and France, was born. Its purpose was to offer high end, unique and ethnic decorative items from various African countries, while collaborating with artisan's communities to create and invest in women empowerment and education programs.
When we moved to Tanzania in 2022, my journey took a deeper turn.
I knew that something was missing from the equation. After searching for my calling through deep inner work, I had finally found it: helping people to feel at peace through designing their sacred sanctuary, while improving part of the local populations' living standards through education programs, recycling and more.
I first came accross interior design 20 years ago and it had been at the back of my mind ever since. In 2023, I decided to formally pursue an interior design degree, merging my longing to create authentic and beautiful spaces with professional expertise.
Since then, I've had the privilege of working on remarkable projects: designing a penthouse in Zanzibar, creating bespoke furniture, and transforming spaces by harmonizing aesthetics and utility to create functional and beautiful spaces.
From this passion and experience was born Mimọ. The word "Mimọ" , means sacred in Yoruba, my Father's mother tongue. It embraces my mission to help people create spaces that feel deeply personal, authentic, and connected to their soul. At Mimọ, we craft authentic spaces for authentic living—spaces that feel sacred to those who inhabit them.

Properties in Zanzibar designed for long term rental.
Our client wanted a minimalist style and warm atmosphere with a light decor.
The two properties, located in Fumba, have been succesfully rented right after completion.
Short term rental property located in Zanzibar.
Our international clients wanted to design a unique rental unit infused with African and coastal vibes.

Jessica and her team did a fantastic job in decorating my two units (an ocean view penthouse and a two bedroom appartement) at Fumba Town, Zanzibar.
